FAQS

What will I wear?

We train in judo-style ghis, which you can borrow from us initially. We have a variety of sizes that you can borrow. Women also wear a t-shirt beneath their jacket and so remember to bring a comfortable t-shirt along (preferably a white one).

When do you train?

The club trains every Tuesday from 8pm - 9.30pm

When can I start?

You can start training whenever you like. We do not have set starting dates and welcome newcomers throughout the year.

How much does it cost to train?

We charge £3 a session for adults and £2 a sessions for students, the unemployed and under 18's. There is also a licence fee to become a member of the BJJA. This costs £12 for the first year, and £10 a year thereafter.

Why do I need a licence?

Your licence is both your membership and grading record. Its second purpose is to give you third party insurance against injury.

How long will it take me to become a black belt?

This depends on the ability and commitment of the individual, however you can expect to train for anything from four years upwards to reach this stage.

Are there many women that train regulalry at your club?

There are women that train regularly with us, so don't be afraid to join us!
